Fairyloot January 2018 Unboxing!

This past Christmas, my family bought me a six month subscription to Fairyloot, which is a UK-based book subscription box centred around YA fantasy. I’d be lying if I said the main factor for us deciding to go with Fairyloot is because, being in the UK, the shipping is fairly cheap. But! The box itself is of fantastic quality.

This month’s theme was Talk Fairie To Me. I knew when the theme was announced that it would be dominated by Sarah J Maas and though I enjoyed the first two books in the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy, Maas is a bit of a trashfire and I hated Throne of Glass.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy a lot of the items in the box.

This is definitely my favourite item in the box, and my first ever bookish pillow! I’ve always looked on enviously at these things and now I have one on my own bed! Evie Bookish did a beautiful job with this quote and though my relationship with Sarah J Maas isn’t the greatest, this quote means a lot to me. And it goes perfectly with the colour scheme of my room. The pillow is 18″ x 18″.

dsc_0917.jpg❀ Prince Cardan Candle by Meraki Candles!

This candle fits with the book included in the box, as this is the smell of the character the author provided Fairyloot with! It has a very subtle smell which is what I prefer. The scents are clove, oak-wood, moss, leather, black pepper, and pine. I can definitely smell the pine!

DSC_0927.jpg❀ Exclusive Vegan Seelie Lip Balm created by Geeky Clean!

Okay, this one really surprised me. I have had dry and chapped lips for years and have used the usual branded lip balms but none of them have had so much of an effect as this one has! I’m not just saying this either. I’m going to do some more research into the ingredients because this is just what my lips needed! This is from the Shadowhunters universe.

dsc_0918.jpg❀ Faerieland Adult Colouring Book created by Michael O’ Mara!

Again, my first adult colouring book! This is absolutely beautiful. The illustrations are so detailed and though I had reservations about whether I would have the patience to keep going with it, I ended up finding it so relaxing. I love listening to my audiobook while I colour. I’m working on a Minotaur at the moment!

dsc_0916.jpg❀ Exclusive ‘Illyrian’ Magnetic Bookmarks by Dreamy and Co

Okay, I ADORE magnetic bookmarks. They’re so practical, especially when I’m carrying books in my bag because normal bookmarks fall out without fail. These are designed so beautifully. I adore this art style.

❀ Prints by Diana Worak and Stella’s Bookish ArtDSC_0925

I’m always in awe of people who can create prints this lovely. Though I’m not enough of a fan of Throne of Glass or the quote itself to put it up on my wall, I can definitely appreciate the effort put into it and can’t deny they look stunning. If you’re a TOG fan, these would be perfect. And as always,                                            the Fairyloot prints are gorgeous.

I’ve heard so many awesome things about this book! It seems to be one of those that live up to the hype. Or at least, I hope so!

Here’s the summary from Goodreads!

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

So there it is! I’m so excited for next month’s box because February’s theme is…

This is so me. I’m so unbelievable excited. GIMME DARK FAIRYTALES THIS SECOND. Ooh! I hope there’s some Every Heart a Doorway or Down Among The Sticks and Bones items!!
