This topic has been opened up to TV shows, too!
- Hannibal TV Show
Straight in with one of my favourites, haha. Did you hear the heartbreak behind that haha. Well, it’s there. The first two seasons of this show were fantastic. I absolutely devoured them, loved them, worshipped them, didn’t stop thinking about them. And then… season 3… what? I really hope it was just because I wasn’t in the right mood or you need to watch it a second time to get it, but I just didn’t connect with it the way I did the first two.
- Doctor Who
Wow, I’m ready for the hate. Before you send the hitmen, let me tell you that I adore Doctor Who and grew up with it. I grew up with Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant, and Matt Smith, loving each one of them and all the episodes they starred in. Russell T Davis, Stephen Moffat, and Mark Gatiss have my undying admiration.
Have we calmed down yet?
Okay, here goes… I don’t like series eight. It isn’t because of Peter Capaldi or his character but I just found it all to be so much more lacklustre compared to the others. Maybe I need a marathon to change my mind.
- Alex Rider Series by Anthony Horowitz
I read this when I was quite young, still in primary school I think, so I can’t remember much about it but I do remember beginning to get bored the further I got on with the series. I really can’t tell you why. Maybe it was me getting older.
- CHERUB by Robert Muchamore
I loved Henderson’s Boys by Robert Muchamore, which is the prequel to CHERUB. I loved it with all of my heart and I remember dragging my poor dad out of the garden during a scorching summer years ago to go to town and buy the next three books from WHSmith after I’d finished the first one.
Then I read CHERUB and… HATED it. Because I’d loved Henderson’s Boys so much, I’d asked for the complete boxset of CHERUB for my birthday and boy did I regret it. I couldn’t stand those books, even though so many people love it. I can’t even remember exactly why I hated it but I did.
Also, I just remembered this series and had to add them to my read list on Goodreads. That felt good!
- Criminal Minds
I binge watched all ten series of Criminal Minds when they were on Sky last year and finished it in a few months. That shows the dedication I put into that show and how much I loved it. It was a guilty pleasure for me because even though it was repetitive and in parts quite sexist, I ate it up and it was perfect to have in the background while I was doing work.
Then as the series went by, a lot of the original cast left, which of course they would as it has been going on for so many years now and I imagine they’d want to move onto something else. But it just didn’t feel the same anymore and that made me realise how the new episodes began to become just recycled old episodes with new faces.
Now that Thomas Gibson has gone, I think it’s time to stop.
There we go! Let me know any book series or TV shows you think got worse as it went on in the comments!
Thanks for reading,
Have a great day,
